Team enters tractor restoration contest

This 1947 John Deere was successfully renovated by a group of LHS seniors. Lampasas High School seniors Josh Biggs, Colton Baker, Tate Stoneham and Cory Carpenter traveled to the San Antonio Stock Show and Rodeo recently as part of the FFA Tractor Restoration Team. They took home a fifth-place award out of 40 entries, as well as a blue ribbon and a $150 gift card.

The team began restoration efforts on the 1947 John Deere Model B at the start of the school year. Despite being involved in other extracurricular ac- tivities and jobs, they put in about 875 hours of labor and $3,750 into the tractor.

The group expressed thanks to LHS agriculture science instructor Wes Harris and to Winston Baker for donating the tractor, as well as Al Boberg, Ronnie Baker, Eric Bates, Elissa Mattox, Glemco Inc., Trey Stoneham, Michael Davenport, Nicole Sales and Jeyde Kelly for project support and assistance.
