Badgers fall in Burnet by 17 runs
Lampasas catcher James Boultinghouse prepares to deliver a throw to first base. After being outscored 53-21 and going 1-4 in five games played over five days in Glen Rose, the Badgers traveled south to Burnet Wednesday.
The change of scenery did not help.
Lampasas lasted just five innings before the game was ended via run rule with the Badgers trailing 17-0.
The Bulldogs batted through their entire lineup in each of the first two innings and took a 13-run lead into the third inning.
Lampasas’ lone opportunity to make a small run at the home team came in the fourth inning when the Badgers loaded the bases with only one out.
Unfortunately for Lampasas, Burnet pitcher Kyler Payne struck out the next two Badger batters, leaving the runners stranded.
The Bulldogs finished the outing with 14 hits, including a pair of three-run home runs, while Lampasas recorded just four.
