The public is invited to a free jazz concert on March 28 at the Lampasas High School auditorium featuring the Oklahoma Christian University Jazz Ensemble, which includes 2008 LHS graduate Stephen Grant.

The OCU ensemble is under the direction of Dr. Heath Jones, associate professor of music. It has received superior ratings at the Wichita Jazz Festival and Clark Terry Jazz Festival in recent years, has performed for several state jazz conferences, and was named Outstanding Jazz Band at the Red Buzz Jazz Festival.

During Spring Break 2009, the jazz ensemble performed aboard the Carnival Cruise Line ship “Fantasy,” and in 2007 performed aboard the Royal Caribbean ship “Splendor of the Seas.”

In November 2009, the jazz group performed at the Oklahoma Jazz Educators Workshop.

In May, the group plans to tour New York City for a 10-day performance.
