Lampasas junior Chris Sanders (14) attempts to clear the ball during the Badgers’ season finale against Marble Falls. The Badgers and Lady Badgers wrapped up a disappointing soccer season Friday night by losing to a pair of playoff-bound Marble Falls teams.

The varsity boys’ team (1-13 District 49-4A) was shut out 7-0 at Lampasas Middle School, while the girls lost on the Lady Mustangs’ pitch 5-1.

Senior River Hooks scored the Lady Badgers’ lone goal in the match as the team finished the season with a district record of 3- 11.

The Badgers, who played on the LMS pitch because of the Battlin’ Badger Relays at the high school, did not have a chance as the Mustangs quickly took control of the match.

Less than 30 seconds into the match, Marble Falls junior Ruben Contreras scored his first of four goals on the evening.

With 38:29 left in the first half, the Mustangs struck again to go up 2-0. Not even three minutes later, the visitors extended their lead to 3-0 as Contreras redirected a deflection past Lampasas’ freshman goalkeeper Josh Barbero. PHOTO BY RICHARD AKRIDGE
