LHS tennis continues to tune up for district

The Badgers and Lady Badgers were only playing for practice, but the team had an impressive day, combining to go 25-11 on the day.
“This was good practice for us,” Lampasas head coach Kenneth Peiser said. “To play matches with no pressure and to just improve [is a good thing for the team].”
Winning is a positive as well.
The doubles teams of Alvin Aleman/Zach Holcomb, Lillie Davis/Katie Shaw and Mikenzie Myrick/Mackenzie Benton each went undefeated in play against visiting schools Leander, Leander Rouse and Ingram.
In other doubles action, the duo of Mason Thornton and Alex Morua went 2-1, losing to a team from Ingram.
Casey Scott and Jonah Cantu went 1-2 on the day, while Dylan Ham and Cheyenne Morrow split their two matches.
Chris Monroe went 1-2 on the day, falling to an Ingram player, but not before providing the day’s highlight, according to Peiser.
“Monroe had the big upset of the day, defeating Leander’s No. 1 player in straight sets,” the coach said.
Wade Martin, Nichole Queen and Caitlyn Yates each finished undefeated with two wins apiece, while Emily Bever and Ashley Hause went 2-1.
Chris McWaters (1-2) and Bradley Poston (1-1) each earned a victory.
“The players will play over spring break to keep their skills up, and we will go hard for two more weeks before district [competition begins],” Peiser said.
Lampasas plays next at Waco Midway March 26.
