Annual Lampasas Needle Art, Quilt Show raffle winners noted

A vendor at the annual show offered a variety of items for sale, including these pins made from antique pieces of jewelry. The Lampasas Needle Art & Quilt Show was a successful event. Hundreds of visitors stopped by the Lampasas County Courthouse and Keystone Square Museum to view the variety of works of art on exhibit.

A bake sale and several raffles also were held.

Winners of People’s Choice awards and raffles follow.

Quilts

1. Marcella Jones, Lampasas, embroidered quilt, “Trees Through the Seasons.”

2. Shirley Johnson, Lampasas, pieced quilt, “Around the World Postage Stamp.”

3. Louise Ashby, Carthage, pieced quilt, “Feathered Star Medallion.”

Needle art

1. Gay Gorman, Lampasas, white knit bedspread.

2. Lois Casbeer, Copperas Cove, counted cross stitch sampler, “Deer in the Woods.”

This 1860s-era quilt, in the “Flower Garden in a Square” pattern, was pieced and quilted by Elizabeth Denson, the wife of a former Lampasas County sheriff. Show committee members believe it to be the oldest entry in the annual event. 3. Mary Burt, Lometa, framed counted cross stitch, eagle.

Raffle winners

Embroidered wall hanging, Glynda Chapman, Lampasas.

Crochet afghan, Crystal Hammett, Lampasas.
This Teddy bear, which would be a delight for any little girl, was constructed in a variety of colors.
Handmade Christmas tree ornaments were on exhibit.
