Filing ends for cities, schools
Filing for city council seats in Lampasas, Lometa and Kempner, and school board positions in Lampasas and Lometa ended Monday.
Early voting will run April 26 through May 4, with elections set May 8.
Following is a list of candidates running for seats.
Lampasas City Council: Up for election are the seats of Evan Stubbs, Place 3; Wanda Bierschwale, Place 4; and Les Gerhardt, Place 5.
Gerhardt and Stubbs filed for their seats.
Mrs. Bierschwale did not choose to run, but two have filed for her seat: Wesley Alexander and T.J. Monroe.
Lometa City Council: Seats to be on the ballot in May include those of Mayor Cynthia Kirby, and at-large seats of Betty Poe and Chuck Lymber. A special election will be held for the one-year terms of Kyle Walton and Mario Maldonado.
Mrs. Kirby filed for the mayor’s post.
Walton and Susan Hines have filed for the one-year at-large seats.
Four candidates are vying for a pair of two-year terms: Mrs. Poe, Dale Germany, Carlos Garcia and Rigo Reyes.
Kempner City Council: Positions open for balloting are those of Mayor Gene Isenhour; Paul Cook, Place 1; and Melba Vandeveer, Place 5.
The three incumbents have filed for their seats, and they face no challengers.
Lampasas ISD Board of Trustees: Seats to be filled in May include Place 4, Kirk Whitehead, and Place 5, Linda Floerke. Both incumbents have filed for their seats. No one filed to challenge them.
Lometa ISD Board of Trustees: Three at-large positions are up for election. They are held by Steve Stone, Ben Leggett and John Hines. Each incumbent has filed for a seat, and there are no challengers.
Though there will be no trustee elections, Lometa ISD will hold a $4.37 million bond election for a gymnasium and classroom complex to include a science and technology lab and four additional classrooms.
