Funeral services for Jimmy Wayne Meeks, 70, of Lometa were March 10, 2010, at Sneed Funeral Chapel in Lampasas with his nephew, Terry Austin, officiating. Burial was at Long Cove Cemetery near Lometa.

Mr. Meeks died March 6 in an auto accident on U.S. Highway 281 in Burnet County.

He was born Aug. 2, 1939, in Hedley, Okla., the son of Roy and Euna Holland Meeks.

Mr. Meeks married Janice Kay Whitley on Sept. 4, 1959, in Amarillo.

He served in the U.S. Army from April 1963 to April 1965.

Mr. Meeks has lived in Colorado where he was an assistant manager for Texas International Airlines and later Continental Airlines.

In 1984, the family moved to Texas where he worked for many years for Schwann’s Frozen Foods in Lampasas and Bryan. He was most recently employed by Ace Hardware, Lampasas Builders Mart.

Survivors include his wife of Lometa; two daughters, Treon Kay Beavers of Lometa, and Regina Ann Hallmark and husband, Kevin, of Florence; grandchildren, Adrian Joseph Cordova and wife, Valerie, of Lometa, Zachary David Cordova of Perryton, and Seth Andrew Hallmark, Logan Ryan Hallmark and Abigail Laine Hallmark, all of Florence; and great-grandchildren, Lexie Hearron, Ashley Hearron, Azlynn Cordova and Zachary David Cordova Jr.

Others are sisters, Bella Jo Austin and husband, Bill, of Bedford, Emma Lou Lynch of Midland, and Tiva Jackson and husband, Lee, of Howardwick; his mother-in-law, Juanita Stephens of Lometa; and numerous nieces and nephews.
