Weldon Newton Eubanks died Feb. 18, 2010, at the age of 80. He was buried in St. Augustine.

He was born June 11, 1929, in Rumley, the son of L.D. and Jewel Hart Eubanks.

Mr. Eubanks lived in Lampasas until he was 18, graduating from Lampasas High School where he was active in all sports and captain of the Badger football team during his senior year.

He served in the U.S. Army, and following military service, he moved to Houston. There, he trained and became a deep-sea diver for Doyle Short Marine Divers for many years.

Following his diving profession, Mr. Eubanks worked as a salesman/ broker for heavy equipment, and owned Jewel Energy Partners, LLC.

He was a longtime member of South Main Baptist Church in Pasadena where he served as a deacon and an active member of the Maverick Sunday School Class. He also was a member of the Second Family Care Team, an organization that helps church members.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn Bradberry Eubanks; and a brother, Darrell.
