The Lady Badgers had an up and down weekend in Austin.

Hadley Brown blasted a pair of home runs for Lampasas during the AISD tournament’s opening day. Unfortunately, it ended on a down.

Lampasas went 2-3 at the Austin Independent School District Tournament against some stiff competition and lost its final two games.

Sophomore Hadley Brown got the team off to a hot start, however, by hitting a first inning solo home run in the tournament opener against Spring Westfield.

Despite being tied 1-1 in the fourth, Lampasas exploded to win by seven runs, 8-1, behind a solid showing from starting pitcher Taylor Holloman, who picked up the victory after allowing only one hit. The junior also recorded 10 strikeouts.

In the second of three games Friday, the Lady Badgers fell to the No. 10 Class 5A school in the state, as Austin High won 6-4.

Brown belted her second home run of the day in the game, but it was not enough.

Sophomore pitcher Kady Crow threw three strikeouts in the loss.

The Lady Badgers quickly took to the field for the second half of a back-to-back and beat Temple 5-1. Holloman returned to the mound and earned the victory.

Brown continued her hot hitting streak by posting a triple, while Crow went three for three at the plate with a pair of RBIs. Madison Morris and Marisa Bogart both went two for three in the win.

On Saturday, Lampasas (7-4 overall) lost both its games.

“Saturday was not a good day for us,” Lampasas head coach Chris Munoz said. “The girls battled, but errors are what got us.”

The Lady Badgers opened the day by playing No. 4 Class 4A Brenham and lost 7-4.

Lampasas led 4-0 in the fourth inning, but errors allowed Brenham to make a big run.

Holloman had nine strikeouts and picked up the loss.

Things did not improve against Houston Lamar, which won by three runs, 6-3.

After starting the game, Crow suffered an injury and was replaced by Holloman.

Sophomore Tealey Farquhar led the Lady Badgers at the plate by going two for three. Morris posted a double and an RBI in the loss.

Lampasas played a doubleheader against Austin Hyde Park Monday and travels to the three-day Belton tournament Thursday.
