Justice not served well here

I am writing this letter to inform the citizens of Lampasas County of their justice system.

In April of last year, my daughter’s business was set on fire. A juvenile was charged and finally brought to trial a few days ago. He is on probation now for an earlier crime.

He told a boy that testified that it would be fun to burn it. The day of the fire he told another boy that testified that he was the one who set it on fire. The jury found him not guilty. With all the evidence presented, how could they come to this conclusion? Who do they think did it?

During a break, someone involved with the case was in a business across the street talking, laughing and making fun about the case. I know because my daughter and I were in the back of the store and heard him.

Crime may be funny to him because he makes money from crimes. I wonder if it happens to him or his family whether he will think it is so funny. He wasn’t the only one to think it was humorous. It is no laughing matter to us.

It cost my daughter about $5,000 to repair the Snow Ball Factory and get it going again.

Our country is getting worse about rewarding evil and punishing good. The jury in Lampasas that day was no better.

I am truly sorry the hard-earned money of the taxpayers of Lampasas County was wasted that day. Justice was not served.
