A celebration of life service for Mary Sue Smart, 70, of Clyde is Feb. 27, 2010, at 11 a.m. at the home of Ms. Smart, S&S Horse Ranch in Clyde.

Ms. Smart died Feb. 19 at her residence.

She was born Aug. 28, 1939, in Lampasas County, the daughter of John and Dora Smart.

She graduated from Lampasas High School in the Class of 1957 and attended Texas Tech University, Texas Christian University and Washington University in St. Louis where she received bachelor’s and master’s degrees in nursing.

Ms. Smart taught nursing at Hendrick School of Nursing in Abilene. She worked at Abilene Regional Medical Center for more than 30 years.

She enjoyed playing dominoes, raising horses and spending time at her lake house at Possum Kingdom Lake.

Survivors include a sister, Faye Crooks of Copperas Cove; a brother, Clyde Smart and wife, Frieda, of Dallas; a son and his wife, Brian and Pam Smart of Copperas Cove; and many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grandnephews.

She was preceded in death by three sisters and three brothers.
