Lampasas played shorthanded for most of the match after a Badger picked up an early red card for a foul, and Hutto went on to score three first-half goals en route to a 4-1 road victory.

“Hutto took advantage of the numerical advantage and scored three goals,” Lampasas head coach Greg Porter said. “We regrouped at halftime and adjusted our formation and played a solid second half.”

But it was not enough.

The Badgers fell to 1-4 in district, dropping them to next to last in the standings.

Lampasas had an opportunity to score within the first five minutes of the match, but senior forward Alonso Lopez’s penalty kick was blocked.

Seven minutes later, Lampasas received the red card, and the Hippos began their run.

There were Badger highlights after the break, however.

Lopez made up for his earlier miss by scoring on a free kick with a little less than 28 minutes remaining in the match.

Hutto posted the final goal of the evening off a penalty kick after a Badger delivered an illegal sliding tackle.

“We continued to possess the ball [in the second half] despite being down a player, and several offensive runs by Ethan Moses were turned away in Hutto’s third,” Porter said.

Lampasas looks to snap its fourmatch losing streak tonight when Pflugerville Hendrickson comes to town for a 7:45 p.m. start.
