Free dental care offered to community members
Texas Dental Association is presenting the second annual Fluoride Fest today at the former middle school campus.
Fluoride Fest is a dose of dental and nutritional education along with free dental sealants, hygiene instruction and fluoride varnishes given by dental hygiene students from the Temple College of Dental Hygiene and community volunteers under the supervision of Dr. Jay Elder.
This is the second event of its type. The first served over 300 children in Cass County.
TDA is partnering with Hanna Springs Elementary School to send buses of students on a field trip to the former LMS cafeteria. About 300 students are expected from noon to 3 p.m.
The event will then open to the public from 3-6 p.m., and about 500 total children will be served when it closes.

Smiles on Wheels is a miniature dental clinic, funded through the Meadows Foundation, that brings about a dozen portable dental operations to rural communities which would not typically be able to host a larger dental mission event.
A Smiles on Wheels event will be held Saturday at the former middle school to bring much-needed restorative care at no charge to the Lampasas area. Dozens of dentists and other dental professionals, as well as numerous community volunteers, will donate their time to treat more than 100 adults and children, on a first-come, first-served basis.
Participants should plan to line up outside the school cafeteria by 6:30 a.m.
