CattleWomen donate books, host readings

Colorado River CattleWomen will host four readings for children of all ages during February at the Lampasas Public Library.

The local organization will donate books for children about beef and cattle to the library, with the readings to be from those books.

The readings -- from 10:30-11:15 a.m. -- are in conjunction with the “I Heart Beef” campaign.

Along with the readings, Colorado River CattleWomen will have the Texas Beef Council booth and beef information and handouts.

The “I Heart Beef” program is designed to help drive demand for beef middle meats “by elevating consumers’ passion for great steaks like the T-bone and tenderloin,” said Karli Freeman with the National Cattlemen’s Beef Association.

“A secondary emphasis is to help generate more awareness that lean beef is good for your heart, especially in light of February being Heart Health Month.” The month also has been designated as Beef Lover’s Month.

For more information, please contact Molly Lesley, Colorado River CattleWomen president, at 525-5201 or cattlewomen@gmail.- com. In addition, more information is available at txbeef.org.
