Classics plan Feb. 6 gathering, schedule March 20 car show
Classics at the Classic will gather at the back parking lot of Storm’s Drive-In on Feb. 6 at 4 p.m., weather permitting.
The Classics have staged two car shows with the proceeds funding scholarships for graduating seniors.
The March 20 car show will benefit the Lampasas Boys & Girls Club. In case of inclement weather, the event will be held March 27. The car show is set at Lampasas Building Components off FM 580 East.
“This year has been the hardest to collect donations, but I do understand the recession is hurting everyone,” said Sharon Carrigan, one of the car show organizers.
“We have collected only a third of what we did last year, but we still anticipate a great turnout, just like last year.”
Mrs. Carrigan said she has had some success collecting out-of-town donations.
And to further save funds, her husband, Scott Carrigan, has made the group’s plaques for the car show. About 45 plaques, cut from cedar donated by Myers Cedar Yard of Lampasas, will be given away, along with T-shirts and dash plaques. There will be food and drink and possibly some games.
Members of the committee, in addition to the Carrigans, are Danny and Brenda Britton, Butch Ball, Conan and Angie Magilke, Crystal Bynum, Dustin Bynum, Lewis Hurt, and Pat and Jerry Hunt.
