CTC lists non-credit courses

Central Texas College Continuing Education Department is holding registration for a full slate of classes starting in February. Class topics include exercise, arts and crafts, cooking, self improvement/ wellness, business and a special aquatic science workshop for kids and parents alike.

Some of the classes follow.

Basic Bookkeeping: Students will gain a basic understanding of reports such as balance statements and profit and loss statements as well as learn about reconciliations, assets, liabilities, cost of goods, expenses, journal entries and payroll issues. The class meets Feb. 6 and Feb. 13, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Cost is $41.

Blueprint for Success: A Professional Reinvention and Resume Tune-up Workshop: Develop a customized blueprint to help assess one’s career, map out a personal and professional development path and gain insight on how to best achieve personal, academic and professional goals. The workshop includes a resume review and update, a professional capital analysis to identify untapped personal resources and professional assets, and a current employment value status report to help breathe new life into current jobs and maximize hidden potential. The workshop will be conducted Feb. 6 and Feb. 13, 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Cost is $54.

Basic Upholstery: Breathe new life into garage sale finds and old furniture while learning to work on small-scale projects like chairs, footstools, headboards or cornice boards. Class meets Saturdays, Feb. 6-27, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Cost is $41 plus the cost of supplies available from the instructor. Students are asked to bring an item to work on in class.

No Sewing Required: Learn how to make a fleece pillow or blanket without having to thread a needle. Class meets Feb. 12, noon to 2:30 p.m. Cost is $12.

Sweets for your Sweet: Just in time for Valentine’s Day, learn how to make sweet treats for the special people in one’s life. Students will learn how to make and decorate heart-shaped cookies and chocolate dipped strawberries. Bring an apron and food container. Recipes will be provided. Class meets Feb. 13 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Cost is $46.

Energy Healing: Discover the importance of balancing energies in one’s body. Class covers chakras and chakra healing, the Hara line, healing with crystals and gemstones, healing with color (chromo therapy) and more. Class meets Feb. 2 and Feb. 4, 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Cost is $21.
