Lady Badgers fall to Killeen 54-34

The Lady Badgers’ two-game district winning streak came to an end Friday night as Killeen defended its home court with a 54- 34 win.

The Lady Kangaroos limited Lampasas to just 12 points in the first half before cruising to victory.

Senior Sarah Bishop led the Lady Badgers with 13 points, including one of the team’s two 3-pointers.

Guard Kayla Prescott followed Bishop in the scoring column with six, while senior post Lauren Barlow chipped in five points.

Killeen (12-15, 4-1 District 25- 4A) outscored Lampasas by 11 points, 17-6, in the first quarter before repeating the performance in the second period to build a 22- point cushion at 34-12 by halftime.

Seniors Jasmine Bangus (17 pts.) and Tameeka Randall (15 pts.) each reached double digits in points for Killeen, and Ariel Jackson ended the evening with nine points.

The Lady Badgers (10-16, 2-3) are currently sitting one game behind Hendrickson, Hutto and Marble Falls for fourth place in the district’s playoff race. Tonight Lampasas tries to climb back into the posteason picture when it travels to Hutto (17-12, 3-2).

The Lady Badgers junior varsity team improved to 10-10 (4-1 district) with a 55-53 win over Killeen in overtime. The freshmen (7-11, 2-3) lost 43-32.
