Why I live here
Why live in Lampasas, Texas, and not Copperas Cove, Killeen, Harker Heights, Belton or Austin?
Last week, I was leaving home for the Boys and Girls Club of Lampasas and left a personal item sitting on the hood of my car. To make a long story short, it fell off, and I didn’t know it.
Mr. Van Berry, who works at the golf course, found it and immediately turned it into the Lampasas Police Department. Kelly at the police department went through a more-than-difficult investigative procedure to find me and returned it to me with nothing missing.
Why Lampasas? Because of the people who make up this city that I call home. Our citizens still believe in citizenship, truth, honesty. The people in Lampasas still say “Sir” and “Ma’am” out of common respect that has become most uncommon in our nation.
I want to extend a heartfelt “thank you, sir” and “thank you, ma’am” to both Kelly at the police department and Van at the Hancock Park Golf Course for reminding me of the blessings we often overlook as we busy ourselves with day-to-day activities.
