Scholarship offered to seniors

Texas Partners Federal Credit Union is accepting applications for the 2010 John Colgin Memorial Scholarship. Applications may be downloaded from the credit union’s Web site, www.TexasPartners.com, or picked up from branch locations in Belton, Copperas Cove, Killeen and Temple.

Application deadline is Feb. 26 at 5 p.m.. Applicants must be graduating high school seniors or current college students who will be enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate-level course of study during the 2010-2011 school year at an accredited two-year or fouryear college, university, vocational or technical school in the United States.

Texas Partners membership is required.

Previous John Colgin Memorial Scholarship recipients are eligible to reapply.

According to Bill Beebe, chairman of the 2010 John Colgin Memorial Scholarship committee, the application process is very rigorous requiring two essays, three letters of recommendation, school transcripts and more.

“John Colgin was a longtime member and great friend of the credit union,” said Rod Washburn, chairman of the Texas Partners FCU Board of Directors.

“We established this scholarship to honor his memory in 2005. Each year, the scholarship amounts vary, but not the dedication to academic excellence and community involvement of the recipients. They are a great group of young people.”

Scholarships are awarded to Texas Partners FCU members who demonstrate academic excellence, citizenship, and community and school involvement.
