Garden club elects officers for next year

Debbie Burrows was elected president of Browning Community Garden Club at the group’s recent meeting. Other officers are Doris Magnor, first vice president and reporter; Roxanne DeWalt, second vice president; Margaret Hoke, treasurer; and Koneta Saum, secretary.

Newly elected officers will begin serving the 2010-2011 term in June.

Recent Lampasas High School graduate Trevor McGuire, the club’s 2009 sponsored speech contestant, received a full scholarship from Princeton University and placed on the school's debate team.

In club news, the Arbor Day observance has been rescheduled to today at 4:30 p.m. A tree will be planted at Taylor Creek Elementary School.

Beate Pace was guest speaker at the Tuesday meeting at Clear Creek Baptist Church Fellowship Hall.
