Lampasas Police Department investigators, from left, Jody Cummings, Charlie Boswell and Tim Ryan, show some of the items recovered after the arrest of two Lampasas men who are charged with several offenses including burglary. Boswell was the lead investigator on the case. The Lampasas Police Department has cleared a string of burglaries with the arrest of brothers Richard Castaneda, 23, and Effrin Celestain Villa, 21, both of Lampasas.
Led by Sgt. Investigator Charlie Boswell, an investigation uncovered information about a series of burglaries after the report of a Jan. 7 break-in on West Fourth Street.
A search warrant was executed Jan. 13 at 9 Sunset, and Castaneda and Villa were taken into custody by officers.
A large amount of stolen property was recovered, and a number of burglaries were cleared by Boswell, Sgt. Investigator Tim Ryan and Lt. Investigator Jody Cummings.
Assistant Chief of Police Sammy Bailey said in addition to the Fourth Street break-in, cases that have been cleared with the two arrests include burglary of a business at 100 North Key, 1200 E. Fourth and 200 Riverview; burglary of a habitation at 100 S. Spring; theft over $500 and less than $1,500 at 500 W. Sixth St.; and burglary of a building at 600 N. Key, 400 Brown St., and 300 U.S. Highway 281 South, where 25 storage units were burglarized.
It is estimated that more than $13,000 in stolen property was reported, and a portion of the property has been recovered.
Castaneda has been charged with two counts of burglary of a habitation, theft of a firearm and burglary of a building. He is in the Lampasas County Jail on bonds totaling $111,000.
Villa’s bonds are $102,000 on charges of two counts of burglary of a habitation, theft of a firearm, and theft of property over $1,500 and under $20,000.
