Homes sought for med students
The Brazos Area Health Education Center is seeking housing sponsors to host medical students while they are completing their required community-based rotations in the local area.
BAHEC’s goal is to provide medical students with a positive community experience while they are studying with a hometown physician and to encourage them to relocate and practice in local communities.
The typical length of stay varies between four to eight weeks. During the rotation, the housing sponsor will be asked to provide a bedroom, access to a full bathroom and access to a working kitchen. The housing sponsor is not required to furnish meals or transportation.
The Donated Housing Program has been active since 1998, and has housed over 184 health professions students. The majority of students are in training to become physicians or physician assistants.
