Very lucky to have good help
“If it wasn’t for bad luck, some of us wouldn’t have any luck at all.” I think this is an old saying, but oh how true it feels sometimes.
On Dec. 4, I took off early to decorate my ’73 Dodge Challenger with Christmas lights, for our Classics at the Classic had been invited to participate in the first lighted Christmas parade for Lampasas. My husband met me after he got off work just in time to line up for the parade.
Well, as I went to get the lineup information, my husband pulled my car to the side. I eventually got back to my car, but there was a stream of gas coming from my car. Oh no, I thought. Well, I had to miss out on the parade. I was very disappointed, but I was thankful some of our group got to participate.
The Classic gathering at Storm’s was the very next day, Dec. 5. We drove Scott’s ’69 Roadrunner. On the way there, Scott had a little trouble shifting the fourspeed. We got to the gathering and had a good time as usual. As we left, we decided to cruise down Key Avenue. Well, we got to the red light on Fourth Street. Needless to say, a very nice police officer (I didn’t get his name) helped us push the car out of the road.
We decided we had better head home if we could get it there. Nope, it wouldn’t shift at all. We let the car roll to the side. And behind us was Lee Martin in his classic Ford. Lee pulled up and helped Scott get the Roadrunner on its way.
So, we had bad luck, but we were very lucky for the help from the officer and Lee Martin. Sometimes there are awesome people to take time to help out, and for those I’m thankful.
