Mark and Hope Hamlyn of Melissa are the parents of a son, Porter Abbott, born Dec. 9, 2009, at McKinney Medical Center in McKinney.

At birth, Porter weighed 8 pounds, 3 ounces and was 21 inches long.

Grandparents are Ronnie and Charme Withers and Robert and Linda Hamlyn, all of Lampasas.

Great-grandparents are Ella Hamlyn of Temple and Mary Stockman of Lampasas.
