Boy hurt in collision

A 4-year-old Lampasas boy was injured Saturday afternoon when he ran in front of a pickup.

Armando Rosales Jr. ran from his home at 904 S. Walnut St. across the road toward Taco Bell about 12:30 p.m., said Lampasas Police Department patrol officer Lowell Wright, who prepared the incident report.

The child ran between two parked cars and into the pathway of a Lampasas man driving south on Walnut Street in a 2002 Chevrolet pickup, Wright said. The driver was moving “at a slow rate of speed,” the police officer said, but the man did not have time to brake for the child. The driver does not face any charges.

The boy sustained lacerations to his head and appeared to have injuries to both legs, Wright said.

The Lampasas youth’s parents transported him to Rollins Brook Community Hospital, and he later was transferred to a hospital in Austin, Wright said.
