County residents take part in chorus, entertain throughout Central Texas

The show offered sounds from the '50s, complete with a surprise visit from “Elvis.” Popular songs included hits such as “Big Girls Don’t Cry,” “Lollipop” and “We Go Together,” along with throwback commercial jingles.

Chisholm Trail Chorus of Sweet Adelines International is a women’s a capella show chorus that presents jazz vocals, choreographed pop tunes and award-winning harmony to the community through weekly education classes and frequent performances throughout Central Texas.

They have showcased their talents at the Bloomin’ Temple Festival, the HEB Feast of Sharing, the city of Temple’s senior holiday banquet and the Daughters of the Republic of Texas State Convention.

The chorus, directed by Carol Scherer, is comprised of more than 40 Central Texas women from Temple, Belton, Troy, Waco, China Spring, Lott, Copperas Cove, Killeen, Harker Heights, Lampasas, Lometa, Bartlett, Rogers, Georgetown, Round Rock and Austin.

They recently performed at the Salado Stroll and at Christmas on the Chisholm Trail in Belton.

Rehearsals are held Thursdays at the Cultural Activities Center, 3011 N. 3rd St., Temple.
