Filing for positions on the Democratic and Republican party ballots will continue until Jan. 4 at 6 p.m. Party primaries will be held in March, and the general election will occur in November.

Lampasas County officials eligible for re-election in 2010 include:

• County Judge Wayne Boultinghouse

• Precinct 2 Commissioner Alex Wittenburg and Precinct 4 Commissioner Jack B. Cox

• Justices of the peace Andy Garcia (Precinct 1), Dick Lockett (Precincts 2 and 3) and Sheila Blackwell Hood (Precinct 4)

• District Clerk Terri Cox

• County Clerk Connie Hartmann

• County Treasurer Nelda DeRiso

• County Surveyor Paul Maples

Candidates for several state and national offices also will be on ballots in the upcoming elections.

Republican Mike Conaway has filed to run for re-election for the District 11 U.S. House of Representatives seat.

Gov. Rick Perry will face U.S. Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison and Republican Party activist Debra Medina of Wharton County in the Repub- lican primary. Democratic candidates for governor include former Houston mayor Bill White, Fort Worth teacher Felix Alvarado, Houston businessman Farouk Shami and private investigator Bill Dear of Limestone County.

Lt. Gov. David Dewhurst, a Republican, has filed to seek reelection.

District 54 State Rep. Jimmie Don Aycock (R-Killeen) has filed to run again for his seat.

Republican Todd Staples will run for re-election as commissioner of agriculture. East Texas rancher Hank Gilbert and entertainer Kinky Friedman have said they plan to seek the Democratic nomination.
