Youth earns role in ballet
Francesca Ramirez Francesca Ramirez recently took part in Ballet Austin’s 47th annual production of “The Nutcracker,” at the Long Center for the Performing Arts in Austin.
Francesca of Del Valle joined the professional company of dancers of Ballet Austin for several performances.
She danced the role of a mouse choreographed by Stephen Mills, artistic director of Ballet Austin.
Francesca danced through Clara’s enchanted wintertime dream in the fairy-tale classic.
“We are thrilled to have this aspiring young dancer perform in The Nutcracker,” said Michelle Martin, Ballet Austin associate artistic director. “Each student brings his or her own refreshing talents to the production and helps to make this a true community endeavor.”
Ballet Austin Academy students ages 8 and older were eligible to audition in September for roles.
Each child in the performance trains year-round at Ballet Austin Academy. In October, after making it through the audition process, they add extra hours for rehearsal each weekend in preparation for the performances.
Francesca is the daughter of Michael Ramirez, formerly of Lampasas, and Alice Ramirez of Del Valle, and the granddaughter of Mary Sue Ramirez and the late Felipe G. Ramirez of Lampasas, and Francisco Morales and Ascencion Morales of La Grange.
