Governor presents Wallace Volunteer of Year award

Lampasas County Republican Party Chairman Skipper Wallace was named Volunteer of the Year by the Texas Republican County Chairmen’s Association. The award was presented recently by Gov. Rick Perry in Austin. Skipper Wallace, Lampasas County Republican Party chairman, was chosen Volunteer of the Year by the Texas Republican County Chairmen’s Association during an awards ceremony at the Stephen F. Austin Hotel in Austin last Friday.

“Republicans owe a great debt to Skipper Wallace,” said Linda Rogers, president of the Texas Republican County Chairmen’s Association.

“Skipper’s leadership extends past talk and ideas. He gives tirelessly of personal time and wealth, furthering the Republican agenda.”

Wallace is the Texas Republican County Chairmen’s Association legislative chairman, and he has been county chairman in Lampasas County for 18 years.

He is in his fourth term as Senate District 24 State Republican Executive Committee member.

“The hours Skipper put in at the legislature alone make him one of the most dedicated leaders in Texas,” said Mrs. Rogers, who also is the Burnet County Republican Party chairman. “The huge amount of time he spends attending to his Republican duties equals or surpasses the other giants of the Republican Party.”

Mrs. Rogers thanked Wallace for his efforts, calling him a “great Republican leader.”

Gov. Rick Perry presented the award to Wallace during the ceremony.
