Hometown Holidays events to usher in start of Yule season
Lampasans will celebrate the opening of their Christmas season at Hometown Holidays, beginning tonight in historic downtown Lampasas.
The community’s first lighted Christmas parade will feature a number of float entries to be judged and winners announced in three categories: best use of theme, most original and best use of lights.
Activities tonight will include the parade and traditional entertainment on the courthouse bandstand. Performances are on tap by the Lampasas High School Jazz Band, LHS Flames Drill Team, First Baptist Church’s youth choir Organized Chaos, the Lampasas Community Cantata Choir and the Jarrett Schaub Band.
Also, story-telling by Tracy Rash is planned at My Girls, and carriage rides and a visit from Santa Claus will be part of Friday’s events.
Keystone Square Museum’s gingerbread house and Christmas tree displays will run throughout the weekend. A bake sale will be held tonight to support the museum’s programs.
On Saturday, a walking tour of historic downtown buildings and upper stories is planned, along with tours of the Lampasas County Courthouse.
A film about Lampasas County will be shown continuously every 15 minutes at the courthouse.
In addition, a family film and a choral group singing Christmas carols will take place Saturday night at Hands of the Promise church on Third Street.
