Lake Travis continues to roll through playoffs
The Cavaliers’ domination continues.
One week after receiving their only true scare of the entire season -- a narrow seven-point win against Schertz Cibolo Steele --, the lone team remaining from District 25- 4A returned to its typical winning ways by dismantling Corpus Christi Flour Bluff 52-13 in the regional round of the playoffs at the Alamodome Saturday.
After taking a 22-7 lead into halftime, Lake Travis used a long, tackle-breaking run from quarterback Michael Brewer to set up a 17-yard touchdown pass to Conner Floyd early in the third quarter, and the rout was on.
The victory advances the back-toback defending state champions to the quarterfinals where it will face Alamo Heights Friday night at Bobcat Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
The Mules were responsible for eliminating Killeen from the postseason.
In Conference 4A Division 2 action, Austin McCallum’s run came to an end when Port Lavaca Calhoun knocked off the Knights 35-28 inside the Alamodome Saturday evening.
McCallum ruined Lampasas’ first trip to the playoffs since 2000 with a 30-point win, 58-28, in the bidistrict round.
