Lampasas returns to the court tonight at Belton with hopes of regaining the momentum it lost heading into the holiday. With a full week of rest under their belts, the Badgers and Lady Badgers are back in action tonight.

Both basketball programs will attempt to get back on track after posting disappointing records heading into the Thanksgiving holiday.

The varsity Badgers have yet to pick up a victory, having fallen in their first four games of the season. Despite losing to Burnet 46-38 last Tuesday, Lampasas gained some momentum by displaying the effort and execution head coach Scott Harrelson desperately wanted.

Although the overall play improved from their first three contests, the Badgers committed a handful of turnovers in the closing minutes that cost them the game.

Forward Secody Howard and the Badgers look to earn their first victory of the season tonight against St. Stephens. The week off, however, could be key to a potential turnaround starting tonight against St. Stephens as several key players had little time to adjust to basketball after helping the Badgers’ football team make a run to the playoffs.

Lampasas will have home court advantage when tonight’s game tips off at 7 p.m.

The Lady Badgers (3-5) look to snap a three-game slide tonight on the road against Belton.

After a pair of road losses to open the season, Lampasas advanced to the championship game of its own Crossroads of Texas Tournament by winning its first three games played inside the new Lampasas High School gymnasium. Unfortunately for the host team, the winning streak came to an end against Dripping Springs.

The defeat sent the Lady Badgers into a tailspin, and they lost their next two games by a combined 25 points, including a disheartening 53-37 home loss to the Killeen Ellison Lady Eagles last Tuesday.

Lampasas took a 13-10 lead into the second quarter of the game before being outscored by 19 points over the next 24 minutes of action.

Both varsity squads will participate in tournaments later this week.

The Badgers travel to the Lorena tournament Thursday, and the Lady Badgers begin play at the Burnet tournament Friday.
