Herb Society plans annual Yule party
Central Texas Herb Society met Nov. 21 at Josie Overton’s country home.
Gitta and Ervin Khulman’s son prepared a smoked pork loin as the main dish, accompanied by a side dish or dessert from each member -- generally made with herbs.
Officers elected for 2010 included Shirley Beyer, president; Mrs. Overton, vice president; Connie Madison, secretary; and Lea Patel, treasurer. Charlene Nash will continue as publicist and historian.
The annual Christmas party is Dec. 12 at 1:30 p.m. at Cherie Garrett’s home. Those attending should bring a vegetable, salad or dessert. Gifts will be exchanged by those choosing to participate.
Members are asked to bring three suggestions for 2010 programs. On meeting day, Randa Daude, owner of Oma’s Garden Pflantzen in Killeen and an Herb Society member, appeared on PBS’s Texas Gardner on Austin’s KLRU television station.
Members should be prepared to pay $12 dues in January.
