LHS varsity girls’ golf closes out season with fourth-place finish
Carmen Gonzales led the Lady Badgers in their seasonfinale, shooting an 86. Despite some difficult conditions, with a team-total of 378, the varsity Lady Badgers golf team recently placed in the top five at the Golf Club of Texas in San Antonio.
Led by sophomore Carmen Gonzales’ team-best 86, Lampasas overcame the adverse weather to finish fourth out of 16 teams.
“It was cold and windy, and the windier it got, the worse our scores got,” coach Andrea Conley said. “But I was happy with the performance for the last tournament of the season.”
Juls Crook and Lauren Davis both broke 100 on the course, shooting 95 and 97, respectively.
Brittany Graham was right behind the duo, posting an even 100. McKenzie Martin finished with a 108.
Smithson Valley won the tournament.
The Lady Badgers will return to the links in early 2010 as they look toward a repeat trip to regionals.
Last year, Gonzales was joined by fellow freshman Madison Myers at the Region 4-4A tournament. Both finished in the top 25.
