In about a 30-minute meeting Monday, the Lampasas County Commissioners Court hired a new county employee and addressed other brief matters.

The court voted 4-0, with Precinct 4 Commissioner Jack B. Cox absent, to hire Karen DeZarn as a Texas AgriLife Extension agent for family and consumer sciences. Ms. DeZarn, a Purdue University graduate and former public schoolteacher, worked as an Indiana Extension agent for 16 years. Her hiring is effective Jan. 1.

In other business, commissioners revised the minutes of the court’s Oct. 13 meeting to reflect the correct location of property the county recently purchased from the city of Lometa. The property includes a portion of Eighth Street and a portion of Block 37.

The deed for the property has been filed in the county clerk’s office.

Also, the Commissioners Court voted 4-0 to reappoint Precinct 1 Commissioner Robert Vincent to the Killeen-Temple Metropolitan Planning Organization’s policy board and technical committee.

In addition, commissioners voted to table discussion of a contract renewal with McQuay Air Conditioning Factory Service until County Attorney Larry Allison reviews the contract and a proposed price increase.
