Deadline for tree contest is today
Vision Lampasas! is looking for the largest, most beautiful cedar tree in the area to grace the Lampasas County Courthouse lawn during Hometown Holidays Dec. 4-6, and throughout the holiday season.
Vision Lampasas! and the Courtyard Square Association are collaborating to make this year’s decorations extra special, said Maryann Severn, VL chairman.
In conjunction with this effort, the Lampasas organization is sponsoring a contest and is counting on the community to go on a search. Whoever finds and donates the “perfect” tree will ride in the Storybook Lighted Parade on Dec. 4. A sign next to the tree on the courthouse lawn will indicate the gift to Lampasas.
After a winner is selected, Vision Lampasas! volunteers will cut the tree with the cooperation from its owner. It will be taken to Courtyard Square for decorating. At the end of the holidays, the tree will be mulched for recycling.
“Texas Historical Commission rules are that the tree cannot be planted on the courthouse lawn,” Mrs. Severn said.
To enter the contest, contact Mrs. Severn at 525-5200 or email visionlampasas@gmail. com. Entry deadline is today.
