Mr. Tucker
Sand Springs resident Bill Tucker, 79, died Nov. 15, 2009, at Lamun-Lusk-Sanchez Texas State Veterans Home.
Funeral services were Nov. 18 at Midway Baptist Church in Big Spring with the Revs. Mark Winn and Jim Binnix officiating and a granddaughter, Andi Schneider, participating. Burial was at Coahoma Cemetery in Coahoma.
Mr. Tucker was born Sept. 7, 1930, in Andice, the son of Ollie Prentice and Elizabeth Lou Tucker. He married Shelbie Laneta Hobbs on Sept. 8, 1951, in O’Donnell.
A Florence High School graduate, he served in the U.S. Navy from 1948-55.
Mr. Tucker moved from Big Spring to Angleton and worked for Cosden Refinery for 42 years, retiring as an operator in 1991.
He was an active member of Sand Springs Baptist Church, serving as a deacon, treasurer and Sunday school teacher.
Survivors include his wife of Sand Springs; two daughters, Sheryl Schneider and husband, Mack, of Coahoma, and Connie Tucker of Fort Stockton; two sons, William Noel Tucker of Lampasas, and Danny Tucker and wife, Elfi, of Sand Springs; five brothers, Howard Tucker of Georgetown, O.P. Tucker and wife, Lillian, of Lampasas, Duff Tucker and wife, Pat, and James Tucker and wife, Beth, all of Florence, and Charles Tucker and wife, Maggie, of Temple; a sister and brother-inlaw, Deana Phillips and Roscoe Kornes of Pottsville; and a son-inlaw, Roy Carter of San Angelo.
Others are two sisters-in-law, Marie Galloway of Stamford and Lola Faye Bearden of Snyder; two brothers-in-law, Clinard Hobbs and Kenneth Hobbs and wife, Nita, of Alice; 11 grandchildren, Chris Schneider and wife, Christina, William Tucker, and Shaun Carter and wife, Erica, all of San Angelo, Andi Schneider, Starla Hernandez and Bo Swatzell, all of Big Spring, Anthony Tucker and wife, Katie, of New Braunfels, Natalia Tucker and Traci Carter, both of Lubbock, Tanner Tucker of Lampasas, and Sara Kay Tucker of Oklahoma; 13 great-grandchildren, Nathan Schneider, Jonathon Schneider and Zackry Schneider, and DeShaun Hernandez, Mariah Hernandez, George Hernandez, Lyniah Hernandez and Jaden Hernandez, all of Big Spring, Summer Schneider and Logan Schneider of Winters, and Amika Gonzalez, Rolando Gonzalez and Britney Galan, all of San Angelo; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a brother and his wife, Donald and Hazel Tucker; a grandson, Joseph Alan Schneider; two sisters-in-law, Gwen Tucker and Anna Hobbs; and two brothers-in-law, Buddy Galloway and Pete Bearden.
