Nursing home advocates sought

The Area Agency on Aging of Central Texas Ombudsman program is seeking caring individuals to advocate on behalf of nursing facility residents in Lampasas.

Statistics show that 60 percent of residents do not receive visitors. An ombudsman can help ensure that residents know their rights and those rights are being respected by the facility in which they live.

Ombudsmen can work with nursing facility residents in Lampasas and their families to improve their quality of life and care. No prior experience is required, and training and supervision are provided. Training is flexible, and the volunteer determines the day and time of visits.
