Lampasas’ season ends at regionals

PHOTO BY RICHARD AKRIDGE Ashley Moore, seen running at the District 25-4A meet, placed 131st overall at the regional meet in San Antonio Saturday. After battling against the odds all season long, the Lady Badgers’ 2009 cross country campaign came to end Saturday.

Despite rarely fielding a complete team, Lampasas used a pair of impressive district meet showings to advance two harriers to the regional meet at Brooks City-Base in San Antonio over the weekend.

Senior Tiffany Fagg placed 123rd overall with a time of 14:03.1, and Ashley Moore finished moments later (14:09.7), placing 131st out of 188 runners.

“The parents of all [the cross country team members] deserve a pat on the back for their sacrifices in getting them there for our 6:30 a.m. workouts,” head coach Trent Lancaster said.

Boerne Champion and New Braunfels Canyon claimed the top two team finishes, respectively.

Emily Perez, of La Joya Juarez- Lincoln, posted the top individual perfomance, completing the twomile course in 11:39.8. Medina Valley’s Michelle Jones finished second with a time of 11:44.8, edging out Alexandra Alvizo (11:55.4).

Boerne Champion also won the Class 4A boys’ regional crown.
