Nelson Wayne Machen, 61, of San Antonio died Nov. 5, 2009, at his residence.

Graveside services were Nov. 8 at Nix Cemetery in Lampasas County.

Mr. Machen was born March 5, 1948, in Lampasas County, the son of Nolan O. Machen and Merle Wright Machen.

He graduated from high school and served in the U.S. Navy for four years.

Mr. Machen had been in sales most of his career.

Survivors include a son, Travis J. Machen of New York City; daughters, Dianna Brown and Monica Ventress; his father of Lampasas; sisters, Lori Paulson and Donna Slaughter; and five grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his mother; a brother, Neil Machen; and his stepmother, Eva Joe Lively Machen.
