LHS tennis player earns Halloween treat at GTC tournament

Chris Monroe, a freshman on Lampasas' varsity tennis team, shows off his championship trophy from the GTC Halloween Junior Open. Lampasas tennis player Chris Monroe recently won the 14-yearold boys' division at the GTC Halloween Junior Open in Georgetown.

The freshman opened the tournament with a 6-0, 6-1 defeat of Patrick Meier before knocking off Lee Spangler 6-1, 7-6 and Kane Moody 6-3, 7-6.

Monroe clinched the trophy by eliminating Nicholas Behling 6-2, 6-1 in the semifinals and Kenneth Williams 6-1, 6-2 in the championship round.
