LCRA shares water restriction guidelines for retail customers
LCRA's stage 2 water restrictions for all retail customers are as follows:
• Limit watering of landscaped areas to a twice-a-week schedule. For residential customers with even street address numbers, watering is limited to Thursdays and Sundays. Residents with odd street address numbers may water only on Wednesdays and Saturdays.
Watering for commercial customers is limited to Tuesdays and Fridays.
Those with automatic sprinkler systems should set their systems to start watering just after midnight on the designated days. This helps avoid using the system during the peak hours of 6-10 a.m.
• Water outdoors only between midnight and 10 a.m. and from 7 p.m. to midnight on designated watering days. Exceptions apply for new landscapes. During the first 10 days after installation, customers may water daily. For days 11 through 20, watering is allowed every other day. Watering is permitted every third day on days 21 through 30.
• Do not wash motor vehicles, motorbikes, boats or other vehicles except during the above hours on designated watering days. Use a bucket or hand-held hose equipped with a shutoff nozzle. Exceptions apply for commercial car washes, service stations and vehicles such as garbage trucks and those used to transport food and perishables.
• Limit filling or refilling swimming pools, wading pools or Jacuzzi-style pools except on designated watering days and during designated hours.
• Don't operate ornamental fountains or ponds unless it is necessary to support aquatic life or the ponds are equipped with a recirculation system.
• Limit irrigation of golf course fairways to designated water-use days and within the hours listed above.
• Restaurants are urged to serve water to patrons only upon request.
• Do not wash sidewalks, walkways, driveways or other hard surfaces. Buildings or other structures may be washed only for immediate fire protection.
• Repair all leaks -- including broken irrigation or sprinkler heads, leaking valves and faucets -- as soon as possible.
A warning notice will be issued upon the first violation witnessed and documented by LCRA staff. Upon the second violation, a surcharge of $200 will be added to the customer's monthly water bill. A $700 surcharge is applied for the third violation.
The fourth violation may result in termination of service. A $500 reconnection fee and a $500 deposit are required to restore service.
