Mrs. Colburn
Funeral services for Cathryn Carolyn Henderson Colburn, 98, of Bryan, formerly of Cameron and Lampasas, were Nov. 2 at Oak Hill Cemetery Pavilion with the Rev. Laurinda Kwiatkowski officiating. Burial followed at Oak Hill Cemetery.
Mrs. Colburn died Oct. 30 in a Bryan hospital following an illness.
She was born Dec. 24, 1910, in Buckholts, the daughter of Walter S. "Watt" and Lena Perkins Henderson.
While teaching school in Yarrellton, she met her husband, Herbert Lyles Colburn, They were married in Teague on Oct. 12, 1935.
Mrs. Colburn was a homemaker and a bookkeeper. She worked for Macks Oil Company in Cameron and O'Neal Oil Company in Lampasas where she and her husband managed the Phillips distributorship until 1985 when they moved to Bryan.
She was a member of Central Baptist Church and the Uplifters Sunday School Class and volunteered with mailing of "The Messenger."
After her husband's death, Mrs. Colburn moved to Waldenbrook where she was an avid participant in Canasta, Bingo and 42.
She is survived by a daughter and her husband, Jimmye Rae and Henry Carl Hill of College Station; grandchildren, Stephen L. Hill and wife, Marie, and their children, Lindley, Chloe and Easton of Destin, Fla., Cathryn Hill of College Station, and Henry C. Hill II and wife, Kathleen of Turnersville; two nephews; and a niece.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Lillian Henderson Dyer.
