The LMS football teams wrap up their seasons next week against Hudson Bend. The Lampasas Middle School seventh-grade Blue team defeated Westridge Monday 24-19 to improve to 5-2 on the year.

After giving up the first touchdown of the game on a long drive, Weston McIntire sparked the Badgers by blocking the extrapoint attempt.

Then, on the Badgers' first possession, running back Tyler Faries found a crease and bolted 64 yards for a touchdown.

Lampasas' defense forced a punt on the Wildcats' next drive and the offense took full advantage, moving 45 yards down the field behind a strong offensive line and the hard work of full back McIntire.

The drive was capped off on a two-yard punch from Faries, helping to make the score 16-6.

Westridge cut the lead to four points, 16-12, by halftime.

The Badgers increased their cushion in the second half, however.

After picking up a critical fourthdown conversion on a Scott Lewis run, Faries found another hole and ran 71 yards to the end zone.

Westridge would put one final score on the board in the fourth quarter and had an opportunity to strike again late, but the Lampasas defense denied it.

The team plays its final game of the season Monday against Hudson Bend.

In other Lampasas Middle School action, the seventh-grade White team beat Westridge by a point, 13- 12.

Both of the eighth-grade teams lost to the Wildcats. The eighthgrade Blue team was shut out 14-0, while the White and Gray teams played as one and lost 23-0.
