Members of Chisholm Trail Chorus of Sweet Adelines International helped set the Guinness world record on Oct. 24 for largest singing lesson. The record-setting event coincided with the 63rd annual International Convention and Competition in Nashville, Tenn.

Music professional and past Sweet Adelines International quartet champion Peggy Gram led the lesson by demonstrating techniques for integrating the voice into the art form. The Sommet Center was filled with sound as 6,651 singers sang simultaneously for the duration of the 10-minute lesson.

Chisholm Trail Chorus members who partici- pated in the world-record event include Gail Eltgroth of Lometa. She was joined by members from Temple, Belton, Troy, Morgan's Point, Little River, Lott, China Spring, Waco, Harker Heights, Georgetown and Austin.

Chisholm Trail Chorus members sing four-part barbershop harmony. The chorus, directed by Carol Scherer, is comprised of 40 Central Texas women who practice weekly on Thursdays at the Cultural Activities Center in Temple.
