Funeral services for Hugh Doyle Tharpe, 72, of Lampasas were Oct. 26, 2009, at Crawford-Bowers Funeral Home Chapel in Killeen. Burial followed at Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery.

After serving honorably in the U.S. Army for 12 years, Mr. Tharpe and his wife, Lela Faye, began a lifelong career in the shoe repair business.

He is survived by his wife of 45 years; four sons, Wayne Dalton Fogle, Weldon Earl Fogle, Garland Lynn Fogle and Jackie Ross Tharpe; one daughter, Monika Angel Tharpe; 18 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.
