How sweet the sound
Last Saturday, I was fortunate enough to watch the Lampasas Badger Band perform in Waco at the marching contest. As most of you know, this was the year for Class 4A bands to advance in competition.
Our Badger Band received a division 1 rating that allows the band to advance to area this week in Buda. I was proud to be from Lampasas and see all the supporters who attended in Waco. When our band was announced, it received a loud applause from the Badger supporters. I also was proud to see that we have seven football players performing in the band by marching or assisting with equipment.
I am always proud of our band when it performs at our football games on Friday nights. The members support our team with pride, no matter the outcome of the game.
Band director Richard Hooper and his assistants Nancy Norris, Glenn Grant and Robert Leyva lead our band. These fine people work tremendously hard all year to put together a good marching performance, and you can tell they did a great job with this year's performance.
Our color guard led by Mrs. Norris was the best, which enhanced the performance of our band.
As an athletic director/head football coach, I have never worked with any finer people who are organized, prepared and take pride in our kids any more than these people listed above. Keep up the good work, and remember that there are many people who care about our band and wish you the best this weekend.
