Funeral services for Wayne Gayle Smart, 72, of Copperas Cove are Oct. 20, 2009, at 12:30 p.m. at Crawford-Bowers Funeral Home chapel in Copperas Cove. Burial will follow at Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen with military honors.

Mr. Smart died Oct. 16 in a Temple hospital.

He was born Feb. 25, 1937, in Lampasas County to John and Dora Smart.

Mr. Smart graduated in the Lampasas High School Class of 1955. He served in the U.S. Air Force from Feb. 6, 1962 to June 30, 1977.

He resided in Florida for the past 36 years.

Survivors include two sons, Brian Smart and wife, Pam of Copperas Cove and Jason Smart of San Francisco, Calif.; a daughter, Stephanie Smart of Rolla, Mo.; seven grandchildren; five greatgrandchildren; and a brother, Clyde Smart of Dallas.
