Lampasas customers, Kempner Water Supply clients no longer need to boil water

Kempner Water Supply Corporation and the city of Lampasas have lifted orders to boil water. Water samples have received good results from laboratory testing, and chlorine residual levels meet state requirements.

KWSC's water boiling order was lifted Friday morning, and Lampasas' order was rescinded about 3 p.m. The boil notices had been issued purely as precautions, said Lampasas City Manager Michael Stoldt and KWSC General Manager David Sneed.

"The quality of water being received from Central Texas Water Supply Corporation has improved to acceptable levels, and Kempner Water Supply Corporation is now able to maintain good water quality through its distribution system," a KWSC statement issued Friday morning said. "We do not believe, nor do we have any evidence, that the water was unsafe to use or drink at any time, but regulatory rules mandate certain procedures to follow in these types of incidents."

"We seem to be in good shape," Stoldt added, speaking of Lampasas' water quality.
